Business Systems Analyst (Order Management)

About the Role
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between lab operations and IT by analyzing, defining, and documenting requirements to facilitate effective technology solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of lab operations and order management processes, along with excellent analytical and communication skills, to collaborate with stakeholders, gather requirements, and drive technology initiatives aligned with business objectives.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field
- Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are a plus
Experience
- 2+ years of experience as a Systems/Business Analyst or in a similar role
- Experience in order management systems and workflows, including order capture, processing, tracking, and fulfillment across internal systems and customer-facing platforms
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with business process modeling, workflows, and system integrations
- Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS), ERP integration, and fulfillment tracking
- Knowledge of databases, SQL, and reporting tools
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of API integrations, database structures, and automation tools is a plus
- Understanding of healthcare compliance (HIPAA, CLIA) and security best practices
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Lab workflows
- Revenue Cycle Management
- Bioinformatics
- LIS Reporting
- Online Ordering Platforms
- Order Management
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Work with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into functional and technical requirements
- Conduct gap analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate solution options
- Document business processes, workflows, and system functionalities, especially those related to order intake and management
System Design & Implementation
- Collaborate with developers and IT teams to design and implement solutions that optimize business operations and order management workflows
- Develop system models, diagrams, and specifications
- Test new systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure requirements are met
Project Management & Support
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT teams
- Assist with project planning, timelines, and deliverables
- Train end-users on new systems and order management processes
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze data trends to support business decision-making
- Develop reports, dashboards, and performance metrics related to order volume, turnaround times, and fulfillment efficiency
