About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Director of IT Network and Infrastructure to lead and manage our organization’s technology infrastructure, which is primarily on-premises. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of IT systems, datacenter operations, networks, servers, storage, and cloud environments that support our clinical and administrative operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in enterprise datacenter management, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, and healthcare IT operations. You will serve as a key technology leader, ensuring that the infrastructure is secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with healthcare industry standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all IT network and infrastructure functions including datacenter operations, servers, networking, storage, cloud systems, and end-user computing across the organization, with a primary focus on on-prem infrastructure.
- Oversee enterprise datacenter environments including physical infrastructure, virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and high-availability configurations.
- Develop and execute a multi-year IT infrastructure and datacenter roadmap aligned with organizational growth and healthcare technology trends.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of all infrastructure systems supporting clinical and business operations.
- Lead datacenter modernization, infrastructure optimization, migration initiatives, and capacity planning efforts while maintaining business continuity.
- Oversee IT security initiatives including vulnerability management, threat detection, disaster recovery, and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response plans for both datacenter and enterprise environments.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and evaluate new infrastructure solutions to meet evolving operational needs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and executive stakeholders to understand technology needs and deliver effective infrastructure solutions.
- Manage the IT infrastructure budget, including capital and operational expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
- Oversee end-user support operations, ensuring a high level of customer service and timely resolution of technical issues.
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of progressive IT networking, infrastructure, and datacenter experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise infrastructure and datacenter environments in a healthcare, clinical laboratory, or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with on-prem datacenter infrastructure including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, backup technologies, and disaster recovery environments.
- Strong knowledge of networking, server administration, virtualization, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), and IT security practices.
- Proven experience with datacenter operations, infrastructure scalability, uptime management, and migration or upgrade projects.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and healthcare IT regulatory standards.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and technology contracts.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience supporting hybrid work environments and multi-site operations.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified, VMware, Cisco, or equivalent.
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, backup, and infrastructure automation tools.
