Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Epic Analyst to support, optimize, and enhance Epic integration with the LIMS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong Epic experience, be able to troubleshoot complex workflow and interface issues, possess solid SQL knowledge, and have hands-on programming experience, preferably in C#. This role will analyze ordering and resulting workflows, translate business requirements into Epic configurations, support client integrations, compendium updates and production issues, and contribute to ongoing platform improvements.
Key Responsibilities
System Configuration
- Analyze test ordering and resulting workflows and translate them into Epic functionality and system configurations.
- Configure, maintain, and optimize Epic interfaces to support client integration operations.
- Work closely with other Epic Analysts, development and product teams to build, maintain, and troubleshoot interfaces between Epic and external systems using HL7, APIs, and other interoperability standards.
- Partner with technology teams to support configuration, testing, validation, and deployment of workflows.
- Define, prioritize, triage, and document Epic compendium build requests.
Workflow Analysis & Optimization
- Analyze existing ordering and resulting workflows and identify opportunities for optimization and automation within Epic modules.
- Troubleshoot complex workflows using SQL queries and debugging internal applications as a first line support to development team and collaborate with clinical and technical teams to implement effective solutions.
- Partner with development and product teams and clinical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable system solutions.
- Document and standardize laboratory procedures within the Epic environment.
Interface & Integration Support
- Troubleshoot interface issues between Epic Interfaces and laboratory information systems (LIMS).
- Support interface development, testing, monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Understand and support HL7 messaging, FHIR integrations, API connectivity, and integration testing.
- Participate in go-lives, upgrades, system enhancements, and production support activities.
Programming & Technical Support
- Utilize SQL to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and support reporting needs.
- Develop or maintain custom utilities, scripts, or applications to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
- Apply programming skills, preferably in C#, to support integrations, automation, and technical solutions where appropriate.
Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for configurations, workflows, SOPs, build requests, and change management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Epic Bridges/Security Certification.
- 2+ years of experience supporting Epic Bridges or a similar Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Strong Epic experience with the ability to troubleshoot workflow and interface issues.
- Experience working with SQL for querying, troubleshooting, reporting, and data analysis.
- Programming experience, preferably with C#.
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare interoperability standards.
- Experience supporting clinical laboratory operations and specialized testing workflows.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI data security, and healthcare IT regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Bridges Certification or experience.
- Epic Aura experience.
- Experience developing custom integrations or automation tools using C# or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience working with interface engines and healthcare integration technologies.
